Coool, flies... They are CUTE!!! It's good to try out with many background colours posibilities. Personally, i think the black ones works very well, is gives a strong contrast against the icon & the halo (since it's yellow).
Suggestions : if you don't wanna use black, try others dark colours; I guess they will works well too.

erm.. it's very colourful and cute~ and i think the shadow part is kinda weird :P and a little confusing maybe because the fly is not obvious enough and it's more 2D than 3D for me but overall is cute and vibrant~

The glowing halos remind me of fireflies. Really cool man. I like the ones against purple background, like the bottom right corner one.
